Family Time

Ok, so I have been holding off from posting personal stuff on the blog. Nearly everything I've ever put here has been from paying jobs. Recently I've been doing the sort of work that I don't post on my blog—headshots of local business people, for example—which, even though they have been great people, the photos aren't the sort of thing that sets us apart from the crowd as much. So there has been silence on the blog. :)

Anyways, I've been thinking a bit about the photos we take for ourselves—which I hardly ever do anymore—and how I should really take more so our kids will have a record of us and so on. It's funny, but both Sherri and I really don't like getting our photos taken! I think that's why we get on so well with our clients; so many people are camera-shy and we can both relate to not wanting to be in front of the camera.

A great photographer named David Williams talks a lot about this topic. He asks professional photographers, "While you're busy taking family photos for everyone else, who is taking them for your family?" And, so I've started to take some snaps of us. :)

I've only done this once so far—and with a cheapy camera I happened to have on me at the time—but I'm going to try to take a handful of pics every week. This first time was a bit halfhearted and people are squinting and so on, so next time I'm gonna make it count! After I have a few week's worth I'll design a big storybook album to put them all in.

So, without further rambling, here are some family snaps of us. You've been warned. ;)
