Matt & Cara Lee's Wedding

Matt and Cara Lee were married in beautiful Fernie, up in the Rockies in BC. The weather had been a bit nasty throughout the week with snow and rain here and there, but it cleared up nicely right in time for the wedding. It was still freezing, though! Because of the fantastic views we did take most of our portrait photos outside and everyone was really good about the cold. I'll tell you one thing though: no one likes wearing strapless dresses when it gets cold! I mean the bridesmaids and bride. Not me. Honest.

Matt and Cara Lee were such an easy-going couple with lots of laughs and smiles during the day and evening. There was a brief tense moment when a thread snapped on Cara Lee's dress while she was getting ready, but Sherri used her special needle-threading powers to save the day. :)

Anyways, it was a real pleasure taking their photos and here are a random handful from their day.

Kristi & Keiron's Engagement

Congrats to Kristi and Keiron on their engagement! :) I really enjoyed working with these guys. They were fun, easy-going and in love—what more could I ask for? Oh, and I love it when people tell me, "We trust you. Do whatever you want!" :) I have this brief moment of panic when I think, "What the heck am I going to do?" and then everything slides into place and the creative juices get flowing.

I knew that a full moon was coming up that week and so we scheduled our session to coincide with the moon rising over the coulees. They asked for some photos in amongst the fall-coloured leaves as well, so we started there and ended up out in the coulees as the sun was setting and the moon was rising, the wind howling around us and the temperature dropping to freezing.

Actually, the temperature dropped so fast that we were caught unprepared and ended up freezing our butts off. And anyone who's seen mine knows that this wouldn't take long. Kristy and Keiron were great though; really willing to go the extra mile to get cool photos and I think that the images we got turned out really well.

Galt Photography Presentation

"Smile!" :)

Yep, that was the name of the Galt photography exhibition that I gave a presentation at this weekend. I talked about Dynamic Family Portraits to a rapt & cheering crowd of thousands. Well, ok, maybe not exactly, but I'm an artist with an active imagination & these things kinda slip out.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who attended! I hope you had a positive experience & maybe even learnt something from my rambling about what I do & why I do it. As I promised, I have uploaded the slideshow from today's presentation so that you can see the images again if you want to. If you weren't there the slideshow may not make a lot of sense, since there are no real notes of what I talked about for it.

I have to confess, I got rid of the two snapshots at the beginning that were there as a "what not to do" part of the presentation! :) You don't need to see them again! And someone who wasn't there might click on the slideshow without reading this rather lengthy intro and get entirely the wrong impression.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Trev & Kristy's Wedding

Hi to all you blog readers out there! Here are some images from Trev & Kristy's wedding, as I'm sure you've worked out for yourselves. :) Actually, I'm going to post a slideshow in the next post down rather than individual images this week.

Anyways, they were a great couple to work with! I was a little apprehensive at first, because a couple of days before the wedding Kristy emailed me a list of about one million photos she wanted us to take. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but not much! ;) I called her & said that we'd be happy to do all of the shots if they had a spare few days to do the photos. Or something like that. :) Kristy was really nice & not a control freak at all. In fact, we had so much time for the photos & everyone was so cooperative & easy-going that I'm sure this will be one of my favourite wedding for years to come. We were able to get some really cool images, too, if I may say so myself. ;) You can click on the slideshow below & see what you think.

The Slideshow

Here it is! Instead of the random handful of images I usually do I'm posting a slideshow of, well, still fairly random images from Trev & Kristy's wedding. It might take a while to load on some computers, depending on your net connection, so please be patient!

All right, here goes. This is the first slideshow to be posted on my blog! I hope it works. ;)

Hmm. I made it a bit too big for this blog & it is overlapping with the text on the right-hand side. I guess I'll have to force it further down the page by putting something above it. Like this meaningless rambling. :)

Do de do.

Ok, now let's try it.
