Russ & Nicole's Wedding

Russ and Nicole were fun from the beginning. Even at our client meeting with Nicole I could tell that these guys were not going to have a typical wedding with your usual cheesy photos. My biggest clue was probably when Nicole said to me, "We don't want a typical wedding with the usual cheesy photos". (It was something like that, anyways.) ;)

They were all a really relaxed and fun group, joking around and that kinda thing. The guys had a female groomsman and the ladies had a guy as a bridesmaid. That was hilarious. This guy was wearing a suit and he wasn't the least bit feminine. It was just one of those unexpected things that kept cropping up throughout their day.

You also gotta love when a couple plays an Elvis song—A Little Less Conversation—during the signing of the registry.

Sherri and I walked a fine line between not doing the usual portrait photos and still getting good shots of everyone in the wedding party. Here are some of their pics from the day.

Corey & Julie's Wedding

Congrats to Corey and Julie, who were married at an outdoors ceremony at the foot of the Rockies. :)

Now this was a cold wedding day! And, silly me, I forgot my jacket, so I was outside in 0 degree weather, in the rain, with just a shirt to ward off the chill. We did end up with some unique wedding photos, since Corey owns his own renovations business and wanted some indoor photos where he gets most of his lumber supplies.

Anyway, I think I'll just let the photos do the talking this time!

Joel & Lizzy's Wedding

Congrats to Joel and Lizzy, our youngest couple for this year! I won't say who our oldest couple was. ;) Lizzy also wins an award for having the funkiest shoes this year: bright red, knee-high boots!

They were married in Drumheller, east of Calgary, and I'd been looking forward to getting some outdoor photos there in dinosaur country since they booked.

After a heart-felt ceremony at the Drumheller Church of the Nazarene we headed down the road to what was probably the only place in Alberta where the leaves hadn't fallen yet. We squeezed everyone into this tiny pocket of fall colour for the family photos and then grabbed the bridal party and headed to the cool hoodoo area that Drumheller is so famous for.

With some off-camera lighting and a polariser on the lens the photos look like they were taken on the moon! Hopefully that's a good thing. :) It was certainly a different scene for us—and that's always a good thing. I really like the drama of the landscape—the clean lines of the rocks and the pure, dark blue of the sky.

Anways, Sherri and I wish them all the best, and here are their random handful of images:
